This series consists of moving images that encourage public awareness of personal safety in different types of weather, and while enjoying outside recreational activities. Topics include, but are not limited to: types of severe storms (i.e., tornadoes, floods, and lightning), coastal zone reports, and commercial and recreational fishing in America. One specific event covered by the films is the tornado that hit Pleasant Hill, Missouri, on May 4, 1977. This series also contains a small group of films that document the actions of the agency itself, and the agency's participation in special events. Subjects include, but are not limited to: an “ESSA (Environmental Science Services Administration) Briefing Film,” an underwater expedition to the USS Monitor, and the 1976 Paris Air Show.
